In searching Pixabay for a suitable picture for this post, I came across this picture of the statue of one Buddhist monk listening to another. Except for a couple of pictures of jackrabbits whose lives depend upon their long ears and acute hearing, the other pictures showed someone wearing headphones or earbuds and listening to a recording. These pictures I suspect reflect what listening has become in many people's minds. It not giving careful attention to what another person is saying. In light of what Mark Loughridge writes about people no longer talking to each other, we may be losing the capacity to converse with other people, to communicate with them face to face.
